About the Company and its Field Discovery

Kazneft Petroleum is a leading company in Kazakhstan that produces oil, gas and associated products that fuels the modern economy. Our history is closely interlinked with the rise of an independent Kazakhstan.

We are deservedly considered one of the most successful and dynamically developing enterprises in the oil and gas market of Kazakhstan. The main area of our activity is the production of hydrocarbon raw materials in the promising Kyzylorda region.
The refinery was put into operation since 2001 and incorporated in 2021 and is focused on processing of oil raw materials of West Siberian oil fields. The enterprise has a balanced capacity of 6,0 million tons of crude oil per year. KNP produces a wide range of oil products. Among them motor petrol of various brands, diesel fuel, oil fuel (mazut), hydrocarbon liquefied gases, vacuum gas oil, technical sulfur, bitumen of several grades (construction, road, roofing), petroleum coke.
We safely and reliably produce products that heat homes, fuel cars, support businesses and benefit society.

The enterprise has well-developed Utilities & Offsite facilities: commodity and raw feed tank farms, liquefied gases tank farm, loading and unloading racks for oil products transportation by rail and road transport.

The refinery conducts an active social policy; all necessary conditions are created for labor, life and health of employees.

Kazneft Petroleum work on the Karachaganak field which was discovered in 1979, and is among the world’s largest gas and condensate fields. Located in north-west Kazakhstan and covering an area of over 280 square kilometres, it holds estimated hydrocarbons initially in place (HIIP) of 9 billion barrels of condensate and 48 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas, with estimated gross reserves of over 2.4 billion barrels of condensate and 16 tcf of gas.

The Karachaganak Venture brings expertise and knowledge from five oil & gas companies — ENI SpA (29.25%), Shell plc (29.25%), Chevron (18%), Lukoil (13.5%) and KazMunaiGas (10%). Together they share their experience and expertise with the Republic in looking at both domestic and export options for maximising the value of these resources.

While delivering on its operation commitments, Kazneft Petroleum as a responsible corporate citizen works towards generating maximum social and economic benefits from the Karachaganak field for the local communities and the Republic of Kazakhstan as a whole.
